CLOVIS POLICE DEPARTMENT HELP IN PREVENTION
OF SHOPLIFTING
The Clovis Police Department will sponsor a shoplifting seminar on November 3, 2000 at the Clovis Carver Library, Ingram room, starting at 9:00 and ending at 12:00. Instructors will be Officer Dean Marney, Clovis Police Department; Detective Dave Williams, Fraud & Embezzlement Clovis Police Dept.; Craig Limmer, District Attorney's Office Hot Check Division; and a Special Guest Speaker Clovie Chunn, Wal-Mart Lost Prevention Officer. The seminar is designed for business owners, managers, supervisors and employees. Topics to be covered will be ways to prevent shoplifting; the laws pertaining to shoplifting and what happens to the offender after the arrest; guarding against hot checks; embezzlement and fraud. If interested please call 769-1921 extension 408 to schedule. Seating is limited to 80 people.
November 10th : Legislative Breakfast
The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the City of Clovis, Curry County, Clovis Municipal Schools, and Clovis Community College are providing the Chamber's Legislative Breakfast for Friday, November 10, 2000 at 7:00 am. The Breakfast will be held at the Clovis High School Cafeteria at 1900 Thornton. The Clovis and Curry County Legislative priorities will be presented. The Chamber would like to thank not only Clovis and Curry County, but all who donate their valuable services, time and efforts for the development and progress of our community.
Chamber/EDC and CIDC endorse Clovis Pride
The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce unanimously voted to endorse Clovis Pride, the mayor-led initiative to clean up Clovis at the board meeting on October 18th. In addition, the Clovis Industrial Development Corporation unanimously voted to endorse the initiative at their meeting on October 17th. A cleaner and beautiful Clovis will certainly make a job a lot easier when recruiting economic development prospects. We applaud Mayor Lansford, the Clovis City Commission and all participants.
New Mexico First
New Mexico First is seeking nominations for town hall participants for its session on "New Mexico's Options for 21st Century Economic Growth and Prosperity" to be held November 9-12 in Albuquerque. A cross section of New Mexico leaders will review the state's current economic conditions and weigh which growth strategies are best for the state. Business Day in Santa Fe Set for January 22-23, 2001
The Association of Commerce and Industry will sponsor the annual Business Day in Santa Fe event in conjunction with the 60-day state legislative session. The Business Day program will be held from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at the La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe.The legislative reception will be held on the evening of Monday, January 22, 2001 at Sweeney Convention Center in Santa Fe. The Clovis/Curry County Chamber and the
Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce are making the final arrangements for the joint legislative dinner that will be also be held on Jan. 22nd. Mark your calendars now and look for more details on the upcoming legislative activities.
